a note on the musée d'orsay

when i travel the first thing i do is visit the city's museums. it is a priority for me to discover and indulge in the city's culture, art, and history. when i visited charming paris, my first stop (prior to the majestic louvre, one of the most important museums in the world) was the musée d'orsay, a magnificent museum where the building itself is a wonderful piece of art and history. this museum is installed in the one-time orsay railway station built in 1900 and has opened its doors for 25 years now displaying the magnificent works of art form the period 1848 to 1914. the collections that impressed me the most where the ones from vincent van gogh, claude monet, and pierre-auguste renoir. i took my time to luxuriate in each and every piece of art for i had in front of my eyes, right by me, the very same paintings i use to admire in books.
the musée d'orsay has recently renovated its impressionist and post-impressionist galleries, i read that it presents a better display of artworks, the exhibition areas are larger and the circulation of the public is more comfortable and secure... meaning i will need to go take a fresh look at this nouvel d'orsay.
paris, anyone?
